NANCY BROWNE PARRISH, 99 Homemaker and Loving Mother Nancy Browne Parrish, of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Monday, August 18, 2014. Nancy was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey and graduated from Atlantic City High School. She loved swimming in the ocean and dancing to numerous Big Bands at the Steel Pier on the boardwalk. She also had a lifelong love of music and played the piano well into her 90s. She met her future husband, John Parrish, in 1935, and they were married for 67 years until his death in 2003. Together they raised a family of eight children, living in Washington, D.C. until 1955, when they moved to Vineland, New Jersey. She and John retired to Brigantine, New Jersey in 1990, and then to West Grove in 2000. The main focus of Nancy's life was her family, and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child entered grade school, and was then employed by Colonial Applicator as the president's executive secretary until her retirement in 1980. She and John loved to travel and used their retirement years to good advantage, visiting all fifty states and several foreign countries. When not traveling, Nancy was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and volunteered for the Red Cross and Newcomb Hospital. She also enjoyed visiting Harrah's in Atlantic City, where she played video poker. Nancy is survived by her son Charles and his partner Eleanor Spada of The Villages, Florida; her son Scott and his wife Carmen of Vineland; her daughter Sandra "Sandy" Cannon and her husband Francis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her son Frank "Swifty" and his wife Aileen of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; her daughter Kristie Armstrong and her husband Ralph of Vineland; her son Mark and his wife Melanie of Durham, North Carolina; her daughter-in-law, Andrea Parrish of Anderson Island, Washington; and nineteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. On July 27th, forty-two family members were delighted to attend Nancy's 99th birthday celebration. Nancy is predeceased by and now reunited with her husband, John; her sons, John Jr. "Jack" and Russell "Rusty"; her daughters-in-law, Brenda and Carolyn Parrish; her father and mother, Russell and Ruby Browne; and her brothers, Harrison and Russell Browne. Services celebrating Nancy's full and wonderful life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 23rd at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 East Landis Avenue, in Vineland, NJ with Rev. Gary Stiegler officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, with burial to follow at Siloam Cemetery.
