Obituary

On May 11, 2021, Noreen Thorwarth, age 97 left this world for her place in heaven.

Noreen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born in Lucan, Ontario, Canada to Joseph and Ann Whalen. Noreen spent her childhood in rural Canada, where she made fond memories of watching the beautiful horses, skating in winter, and rousing games of baseball. At the start of World War II, Noreen met and married Louis Thorwarth, a navigator with the US Air Force, stationed in Canada at the time. Following the war and the completion of her husband's studies, the couple moved to Vineland, where they started a family and opened a chiropractic office. Throughout her life, Noreen was an active member of the Vineland Woman's' club, as well as, the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Outside of her philanthropic endeavors, Noreen was an avid gardener, and bridge player. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Europe and South America. Most important of all to Noreen were her loved ones.

She leaves behind her loving family: Daughter, Charlene "Maggie" Stubee (Lars) her son Daniel, and grandchildren Zhen Holmes, Ting Holmes and Lannie Meltzer (Doug). In addition to her immediate family, Noreen leaves behind many nieces and nephews, most of whom reside in Ontario. Her niece Loretta always held a special place in Noreen's heart and was as a daughter to her.

Noreen is preceded in death by: her parents Ann and Joseph Whalen, her sisters Bonnie Charron, of Ontario, Canada, Livina Swanson of Detroit, Michigan, Mary McDoughael, of Ontario and her brothers, Charles Whalen, Bill Whalen, Jim Whalen, and Joe Whalen, all from Ontario Canada.

Noreen loved a gin and ginger ale, a good mystery, and to sit in her garden, watching the birds. Friends remember Noreen as a spiffy dresser, a convivial hostess, and a proud Irish woman, who will be deeply missed by those who knew her best. She wrote this to be included with her obituary, "I would like to say goodbye to my friends and let you know how much I enjoyed your friendship."

A private service was conducted at Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home on Friday, May 14th, Noreen was entombed at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mausoleum.
