Palmira Martinez, age 89 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Palmira was born on December 13, 1923 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Emilio Castro and Regalada Martinez. In 1940, Palmira gave her life to Jesus Christ as her Savior and served Him faithfully until her death. She shared her time travelling to visit her children in Florida, New York, North Jersey and for the past year, Vineland. Palmira was a member of the Fountain of Life Church of Vineland and enjoyed gardening, singing at church, sewing and cooking. She was predeceased by her husband, Quintin Canchani in 2007, and by her 3 sons; Roberto Torres, Zadi Ruiz and Jose Canchani. Plamira is survived by her 9 loving and devoted children; Areli Ruiz of Tampa, Fl., Arisedi Canchani of Weehawken, NJ, Catin Canchani of P.R., Quintin Canchani of Tampa, Fl., Nicolasa Canchani of New London, Conn., Gloria Canchani of Vineland, NJ, Jose Emilio Canchani of P.R., Palmira Canchani of P.R., and Esteban Canchani of Tampa, Fl. Her 38 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Jose Mercado of Miami, Fl. and Catin Mercado of Bronx, NY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Fountain of Life Church, 216 W. Elmer St. Vineland, with Rev. Roberto Gonzalez officiating.
