Pastor Alexander Thompson, age 96 Vineland, New Jersey, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 1, 2021 at his home.

Alex was born in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Isabella Thompson and Alexander Thompson. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII and a graduate of Washington Bible College and served as pastor to various churches and attended the First Baptist Church of Newfield. He enjoyed preaching and visiting, going to church and sharing time with family and friends.

Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Marilyn Thompson, his daughter, Marilyn Fitzhugh and his grandson Frankie Durham. Also by his brother Jim Thompson and sister Isabella Thompson.

Alex is survived by his son Alex Thompson of Vineland, New Jersey and his daughter Lorna Miles of Clarksville, TN. Along with his grandson Timothy Durham and great granddaughter Kalei Durham and family of Clarksville TN., and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6th at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Newfield, 9 Rosemont Ave., Newfield, NJ, with Pastor David Dillon officiating. Pastor Thompson will be laid to rest in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp., NJ.

Family and friends may gather for the viewing on Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Also on Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Newfield.
