Rev. Ramon Atiles Jr., age 92 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in SJ Healthcare, Hospice Care, Bridgeton. Rev. Ramon was born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico to the late Ramon and Maria (Rivera) Atiles Sr. and was a resident of Vineland for the past 40 years. Prior to retirement, he was a machine operator for Case Corp. of Vineland for over 15 years. Rev. Ramon was a graduate and teacher of the Bible Institute of Latin America of N.Y.C. and a Pastor for over 12 years for Iglesia Cristiana Roca de Horeb in Brooklyn, NY. He was also a Pastor in Bronx, NY for many years before transferring to Vineland. Rev. Ramon was the founder of three churches in Vineland; Fountain of Life Church, Puerta de Rufegio Church and Rock of Salvation Church. He rejoiced in teaching the Word of God to all who listened. In his leisure time, Rev. Ramon enjoyed watching western movies, swimming, climbing coconut trees and also loved to train and ride horses. Rev. Ramon Atiles Jr. was a very humble and generous man. Rev. Ramon is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carmen (Romero) Atiles of Vineland. His 3 sons; Juan R. Atiles of Vineland, Efrain and wife Afrose Atiles of Vineland and Samuel and wife Awilda Atiles of Virginia Beach, VA. His 6 daughters; Elizabeth and husband Jose Luis Ocasio of Vineland, Sarah and husband Henry Surace of Vineland, Gloria and husband Gilbert Torres of Brooklyn, NY, Miriam and husband Anibal Rodriguez of Vineland, Naomi and husband Rev. Benjamin Ocasio Sr. of Vineland and Daisy and husband Moses Guadalupe of Vineland. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Frankie and wife Irma Atiles of Jacksonville, Fl. and Isaias and wife Frances Atiles of Houston, Tx. His sister, Esther Atiles of Florida and 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Rev. Ramon was predeceased by 2 brothers; Rev. Felix Atiles and Raul Atiles. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10:00am, at the Rock of Salvation Church, 513 E. Grape St. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
