Ramon "Ray" Oquendo

His Journey

October 07, 1971 to December 08, 2025

Ramon Oquendo, the beloved son of Mr. Ramon Oquendo Concepcion and Mrs. Maria Oquendo (nee Claudio Rosa), completed his earthly journey on December 08, 2025.

Ramon Oquendo was born and deceased in Vineland, NJ where he was a lifelong resident. He was 54 years old when he passed.

He graduated from Vineland High School during 1990. He specialized in Auto Mechanics as part of his vocational training. He received his certification as an auto mechanic upon graduation.

He had remained employed as an auto mechanic for many years in Vineland, NJ. Most recently, he had been employed at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New Jersey in Cape May for the past six years until 2025.

Mr. Ramon Oquendo was a friend to many, especially if you shared his love for family and cars. He was willing to see the needs of others and offer a helping hand. He assisted many through difficult times, whether of a personal, health or financial nature. He did not believe in judging others. He was the type who could be called upon for help. And, if he could not personally help, he would persistently search until he found the person who could help his friends and loved ones in need, regardless of the need. He never gave up on people. He was quick to forgive.

Ramon would not only work on cars as his employment, but also during his free time. He would attend classic car shows, swap meets and fairs in pursuit of his passion for cars. He would also travel to other states for classic car shows. He enlisted many of his friends for assistance with his numerous car projects. Through his contacts in the auto mechanics field, Ramon was able to refer himself and friends to many employment opportunities and related hobbies. His favorite car was the "68 Chevy." He was working on one at the time of his passing.

However, family came first to Ramon. He personally cared for his parents all of his life until his recent health battle. And although he may have been a younger brother to most of his siblings, he always acted as if he was the "big brother" to the older siblings. He loved his sister Haydee's cooking. He would often share meals with her family, which included Brandon and Matthew. He was very protective of his family and friends. Once you were a friend to Ramon, you were always a friend to him regardless of the last time you spoke to him.

Ramon and his family are so thankful for the excellent care he received by the staff members of Cooper University Hospital at Camden, the Inspira Medical Center of Vineland; the Inspira Medical Center of Elmer; CompleteCare of Vineland, his private physicians and their medical staff and his last home of Preferred Care at Cumberland of Bridgeton, NJ. Ramon and our journey was made easier because of their love, compassion, patience and expertise.  He was able to celebrate an additional year of life because of the excellent medical care he received. He passed peacefully at Inspira Medical Center of Vineland, NJ at 9:40 pm (21:40) on Monday, December 08, 2025.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. Ramon and Mrs. Maria Oquendo; his sisters Maria Luisa Oquendo Claudio, Maria delCarmen Oquendo and Haydee Oquendo; his two nephews, Brandon Nieves and Matthew Nieves, and his extended family of Mr. Orlando Nieves, Ms. Neyda Nieves, Ms. Sonia Nieves, Mr. Antonio Nieves, their respective children and their extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. Francisco Claudio and Mrs. Felicita Claudio Rosa; his paternal grandparents, Mr. Santiago Oquendo and Mrs. Ambrosia Oquendo; and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
