IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond Eccleston
Edwards
November 7, 1951 – August 11, 2024
To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord
On August 11, 2024, God in his infinite wisdom gently wrapped Raymond Eccleston Edwards in his arms and took him home to rest with him.
Raymond was born on November 7, 1951, in Kingston, Jamaica, to Marian Jones and Vernon Edwards. He attended Mount Industry All-Age School while growing up in Jamaica. Raymond worked at the National Water Commission and was also a skilled mason by trade.
On December 27, 1975, he married his beloved wife, Dervanne Edwards, at Marverley Gospel Hall in Kingston. In 1989, Raymond and Dervanne moved their family to the United States, initially settling in Vineland, New Jersey, for three months before relocating to Pleasantville. There, Raymond worked as a Security Guard at Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, retiring after 28 years of dedicated service.
Raymond loved spending his free time watching TV, especially shows like Channel 6 Action News, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. He also enjoyed taking leisurely walks, tending to his lawn, and relaxing on the veranda while catching up with close family and friends over the phone.
Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memories: his beloved wife, of 49 years Dervanne Edwards, his adult children, Karen Mock, Oneil Edwards, Natalee Edwards, Tracy-Ann Jackson, and Jessica Byrd; his 12 grandchildren Brandon, Ashley, Jayson, Nicole, Tori, Victoria, Angel, Zion, Yomi, Mackenzie, Sydney, and Skylar; his brothers, Vivian, Lindon, Lloyd, Patrick, and Douglas; his sisters, Pansy and Patricia; a host of cousins; other relatives, and close friends.
Family and friends may gather for the viewing on Saturday, August 31st from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, NJ, where the funeral service will begin at 10:00 am. Following the service, Raymond will be laid to rest in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
Condolences may be shared with the family at www.wbfuneralhome.com
Arrangements are in the care of Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, Vineland.
