Raymond J. Freas Jr., age 88 of Vineland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.

Ray was born and raised in Vineland, NJ to the late Raymond and Jennie (Wright) Freas Sr. Beginning at the age of 16, Ray worked as a butcher at JC Market in Vineland and was a member of the National Guard. In December of 1957 he married Barbara M. Clendaniel and together they raised their two sons, Richard and Gary. A self-taught photographer, Ray began a career working with the Vineland Daily Journal and Atlantic City Press as a photographer. He was truly skilled and talented in the art of woodworking and wood turning and created many beautiful and unique pieces for family and friends. This included tables and headboards to more intricate inlays of bowls, vases and Christmas ornaments. Above all, Ray cherished the time he shared with his family and friends.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Freas, two sons, Richard and Gary Freas and by his beloved granddaughter Ashley Robinson (Brandon). Along with his sister Rosalie Foster (Henry).

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Aug. 14th at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Raymond will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Oak Hill Cemetery, Vineland.
