Obituary

Rev. Carlos M. Vazquez, 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on January 24, 1962, to Carlos Vazquez Sr. and Teresa Morales, Carlos lived a life rooted in faith, family, food, and love. His presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him, and his memory will remain a lasting part of the family and community he cherished.

He is survived by his four children, Teresa Martinez (Ricardo), Joshua Vazquez, Angel Vazquez, and Genesis Vazquez; his nine beloved grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as Pop Pop; his brothers, Jose Vazquez, David Vazquez, and Ramon Vazquez (Lillian); his sisters, Annie Rivera (Ralph), Teresa Gonzales (Berto), and Migdalia Garcia; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Vazquez Sr. and Teresa Morales; his brothers, Jose Antonio Vazquez and Pedro Vazquez; and his sisters, Rosa Vazquez, Carmen Vazquez, and Idalia Vazquez.

Carlos had a gift for bringing people together. As a chef, he expressed his love through food, including during his years as head chef at Neptune in Vineland, New Jersey. Through every meal he prepared, he shared not only his talent but also a piece of his heart. Later, his faith led him to Bible school and into ministry. He eventually opened a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he spent many years sharing the Gospel and serving others near and far.

To those who loved him, however, he was so much more than a chef or pastor. He was a dad, brother, uncle, and friend. His love was felt through his prayers, his cooking, his faith, and the time he generously gave to others. He loved deeply, prayed faithfully, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His nine grandchildren will forever remember him as Pop Pop, a name filled with love, tenderness, and strength. They will carry with them the memories of his love, guidance, and the special moments they shared. His children, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will continue to hold him close in their hearts and carry forward the lessons he left behind.

Carlos’s life was a testimony to the power of faith, love, and grace. Though his absence leaves a deep emptiness, the love he gave, the prayers he offered, the meals he prepared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family will forever be grateful for the time they were blessed to share with him.

Funeral service will be held at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave., Vineland, NJ 08360, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
