Richard Baker Allewelt, age 81 of Vineland, passed away on November 7, 2012 at home. Richard was born in Atlantic City and spent his boyhood in Linwood, NJ. He graduated from Ridley Park High School in 1949 and Penn State University in 1953 with a degree in Agronomy. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp prior to working in the agricultural field in South Jersey. He worked for Wilde Farm Supply in Vineland, Star Fish and Agway in Bridgeton. Richard was active in several agricultural societies. He enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity for many years and was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He was predeceased by his sister, Marjory Allewelt Buyer. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris (Larson) Allewelt of Vineland. 3 devoted children; Lizabeth and husband Robert Sarles of Englewood, Fl., Richard Allewelt of Aiken, S.C. and Thomas and wife Gina of Millville. 2 grandchildren; Dr. Heather Allewelt of Durham, N.C. and Michael Allewelt of Aiken, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2384 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather at 2:30 in the Church. Burial will be private.
