Robert "Bob" Beaton, age 85 of Vineland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Philadelphia in 1932 to the late John and Esther (Patterson) Beaton who emigrated from Scotland the previous year.  Bob grew up in Paoli, Pa, where he attended Willistown Grammer School and Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in Berwyn, PA and later attended Drexel University.  Bob worked for Johnson-Matthey Precious Metals Company for 40 years, retiring in 1991.  After his retirement, Bob continued to work on a part-time basis with the company as a customer service representative.  Bob served in the US Army from 1957-1959, followed by 4 years in the US Army Reserves.  During his active duty, Bob served in Alaska and returned to live in West Chester, PA.  He moved to Vineland with his wife, Phyllis and their 2 sons in 1971.

Throughout Bob's life he enjoyed sports and music.  His favorite teams were all of the Philadelphia Pro teams and Penn State football.  His favorite music was from the big band era.  Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  He and his cherished wife, Phyllis enjoyed the Ocean City beach and many years of traveling and cruising to many different locations around the world.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Martin) Beaton, of Vineland.  His 2 sons; Robert D. Beaton (Arlene Smith) of Vineland and James B. Beaton and wife Jennifer of Mooresville, N.C.  His 5 granddaughters; Michelle, Amanda, Victoria, Danae and Alicia.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Bennett.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 18th at the First United Methodist Church of Vineland, 700 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with Rev. Susan Flicker officiating.  Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.  Family and friends may gather from 9:00-11:00 am at the Church.
