Obituary

Ruben Ruga, 85, of Dorothy NJ, was called home peacefully in his sleep to be with his Lord and
Savior Thursday evening, June 25, 2020. He was able to be at home surrounded by his wife and
family.

Ruben was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the eldest of seven children. When he was 13 years
old, his parents (Manola and Ruben Ruga) moved to Dorothy to operate a chicken farm. But
God did not want him to be a chicken farmer, as he was highly allergic to feathers. So he went
through college to be a CPA. But that was not God's plan for his life either, as his outgoing
personality and physical energy was not suited to sitting at an office desk all day. God
graciously led him to provide for his family by working very hard as a carpet cleaner.
But God had an even more important assignment for him to do. Because he had accepted
God's free gift of salvation, "for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9, he distributed
the good news of salvation through gospel literature around the globe. No place was too poor
(Haiti, Nepal, Mongolia), and no place was too rich (South Jersey, Denmark & Iceland). No
place was too far (Alaska, Baffin Islands, Israel & Pemba). No place was too cold (Greenland,
Russia) and no place was too hot (Congo, Egypt, Sudan). He knew that God "would have all
men to be saved, and to come unto to the knowledge of the truth" 1 Timothy 2:4. He gave
them all God's Word and God's Way of salvation. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
life" John 3:16. Making his first trip at 40 years of age, he faithfully served his Lord and Savior
until he was no longer physically able to do so.

Ruben will be fondly missed and dearly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Jane (McCavour)
Ruga, his daughters Rhoda and Sue (Ruga) Hayhoe, her husband William Hayhoe, his son
Timothy and his wife Joy (VanHofwegen) Ruga. Also his nine grandchildren, William and Alison
(Roach) Hayhoe, Joseph and Lydia (Breman) Hayhoe, Aaron and (Laura Via) Hayhoe , Caroline
and Deborah Hayhoe, Anne (Ruga) and Howard House, Kristy (Ruga) and Etienne Leger, Scott
and Sophie (Reiss) Ruga, and Bradley Ruga, and ten great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Lutheran cemetery located on 12th Avenue in Dorothy,
