RUSHTON H. RIDGWAY, ESQ.
August 11, 1936 – June 9, 2022

Rushton, or Rush to his friends, was born in Vineland and remained a resident for his entire life. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary Louise, and one son Rushton H. Ridgway. Rush is survived by his daughter, Mary Louise Ridgway, a resident of Vineland, and his brother Josef Ridgway, of Doylestown Pennsylvania.

After graduating from Villanova Law School, Rush was a practicing lawyer in Vineland since 1961. He was initially in private practice and represented a number of municipalities and Boards of Education. Rush was appointed to the bench as a Superior Court Judge by Gov. Kean, and reappointed by Gov. Whitman. As superior Court Judge, much of his tenure was as presiding judge of the Criminal Division.

In his early years he was a member of Vineland Knights of Columbus, an active Boy Scouts mentor and a member of Vineland Sacred Heart Parish. Rush served a number of years on the Cumberland County Community College Board and served two years as its president. He was also a long-time member of the Vineland Rotary Club.

Rush and his wife Mary Louise summered for over twenty years at their summer home in Sea Isle City. They enjoyed a number of vacations in Europe, and spent many summers sailing their sailboat, "Legal Tender" on the Chesapeake Bay.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 11:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with Monsignor John Burton officiating. Inurnment will follow in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Family and friends may gather prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.
