Ruth B. Shanda Gellenthin, age 99, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 25, 2024.

She shared her life with her husband of 66 years, Bud; and they raised four children. Ruth loved being a military wife and watching her husband rise through the ranks. Her ability to pack up and move a family of six to a new destination, sometimes driving across country, purchasing a house and establishing a home at the drop of a hat, was something she was proud of; knowing that a transfer could occur again at any time. After retirement, they continued to travel abroad.

Although petite, she was spunky and fiercely independent. Playing bridge, bowling, sewing, reupholstering furniture and especially shopping were her favorite pastimes. You could always depend on her to care for the grandchildren when ill and to help family when needed. She often said she was thankful to have lived when she did because her generation had it all, the times were much simpler.

Ruth is survived by daughter Louise P. Kynard of Spanish Fort, AL; son George A. Gallenthin 3rd, Esq. US Army, retired (Cyndy) of Woodbury, NJ; twin daughters Kathy Crane (Bill) of Vineland, NJ; Renee Baldwin (Frank) of Linwood, NJ and sister Bertha Stevens of Pennsauken, NJ.

Grandchildren: Shane Jordan, Austin Austin Jordan, George Gallenthin, Lauren Crane, Stephanie Hares, Paul Schmidt, Andrea Grundlock, Tracy Schmidt, Amanda Colella and Joey Gallenthin.

Predeceased by husband George "Bud", brother Charles Mootz, sister Elsie McMahon, sons-in law William Kynard and Ron Jordan, grandson Mitchell Gallenthin and granddaughters Carla Brinker and Victoria Colella.

Her energetic and peppy spirit will be missed. Private services will be held at a later date along with a burial at sea to join her husband, Bud.
