Sarah Mae Dickerson, Teacher Sarah Mae Dickerson, 70, a long-time teacher and friend of the students in the Pittsgrove Township School System, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, August 12th at South Jersey Inpatient Hospice in Bridgeton, NJ after a brief struggle with cancer. Sarah was born in Rocky Point, North Carolina, daughter of the late Rev. John W. Stanley and Annie Mae (Vereene) Stanley. She is survived by her sisters Rev. Mary (Maggie) Williams of Cheriton, Va. and Edna Moore of Bronx, New York, and a host of nieces, nephews and their families. "Miss Sarah" taught Language arts in the Pittsgrove Township School system for three decades and was well respected by the students she taught. Many will remember Sarah for her no-nonsense manner and her support of every young person she taught. She was an avid supporter of the sports teams in the district. A scholarship fund is being set-up in Sarah's name to support students in the Pittsgrove Township school system. Her faith journey took her in many directions and she visited many churches in the area, always seeking to support the children she met in their own spiritual growth. A viewing will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2384 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland on Monday evening , August 20th from 5 -7pm followed by a funeral service at 7pm. Inurnment will be private.
