Shirley T. (Wainwright) Bernhardt age 80, of Vineland and Ocean City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 11th 2015 in the comfort of her home in Ocean City. She was born in Vineland to the late Eldon J. and Allegro (Larson) Wainwright and lived in Vineland all her life. She graduated from Vineland High School Class of 1953. After High School, Shirley attended Beauticians School in Philadelphia and received a New Jersey State Beautician's License. She was owner-operator, along with her husband Edward, of Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home in Vineland, which was founded by her father Eldon J. Wainwright in 1933. Her compassion to help others was unequivocal. Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vineland and Past-President of the Vineland Rotary Anns, before women were accepted into Rotary International. She cherished the many friendships through that association. She enjoyed decorating her homes, cooking for family during the holidays, babysitting her grandchildren, and was especially proud of her family's accomplishments. Summers in Ocean City and the Jersey Shore were her favorite. Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Brenda N. (Wainwright) Parrish in 2002. She is lovingly survived and will be sadly missed by her husband, Edward L. Bernhardt, her life partner for more than 61 years, and her two sons, Keith E. Bernhardt and wife Karen, and Kevin D. Bernhardt and wife Candice, all of Vineland. 5 grandchildren, Keith E. Bernhardt Jr. and wife Christina of Buena, Jessica (Bernhardt) Kelley and husband Brandon, Nicholas Bernhardt, Sarah Bernhardt and Rachel Bernhardt, all of Vineland. Also 3 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline and Madelynn, all of Buena. Her brother-in-law, Charles R. Parrish of Villages, Fla., her sister-in-law, Evelyn (Bernhardt) Triantos of Vineland and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17th at 11:30 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
