It is with great sadness that the family of Silvia Mendez announce that she peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at home, surrounded in love by her family.

Silvia was born on February 17, 1938 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to the late Hermina Cancel and Moises Mendez-Diaz. She has been a resident of Vineland for many years. Silvia was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, now Divine Mercy Parish, and prayed the Rosary faithfully throughout her life. She loved to cook, enjoyed music, dancing and the holidays and looked forward to going to the flea markets. Above all, family was everything to Silvia. She always welcomed all the neighborhood kids into her home and provided delicious food for everyone. Silvia truly cherished the time she shared with her family and friends.

Silvia was married to Angel Mendez for over 60 years, he sadly preceded her in death in 2013.

Silvia will be greatly missed by her two loving and devoted daughters; Evelyn Vega and Isabel Mejias and her husband Jorge Mejias. Her 3 beloved grandchildren; Glenda Vega, Jorge Mejias Jr. and Rogelio Vega and her 3 treasured great-grandchildren; Kaiden Vega, Justian Gonzalez and Jorge Mejias III. Along with many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 18th at 11:00 am at the Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather at the Church from 10:00-11:00 am, prior to the Mass. Silvia will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland, following the Mass on Thursday.
