Obituary

Ventura Baez, 74, was affectionately known as Turin. He was born and raised on August 10, 1949  in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico and came to live and work in Philadelphia as a teenanger.  At the age of 21 he met the love of his life Sara whom he tenderly tributes as having saved his life. They have beautiful memories of living in Philadelphia, PA and Utuado, Puerto Rico together but ultimately, they established their homeplace in New Jersey where they raised five children.

Turin was built strong having endured many struggles as he grew up. He was a dedicated man, hard worker and provider for his family. Many thought of Turin as being a person with a quiet and even scary demeanor but he was affectionate, compassionate and had a unique sense of humor that made people smile and love him. He loved God, was faithful, strong- in both will and might, he was a protector, a good friend and an amazing father. Grandchildren were the light of his eyes and he loved them fiercely! His life's dream was to see his children succeed and be happy. That was his greatest pride and accomplishment in life.

Turin enjoyed being with others, reflecting on the past with life long friends and family that sometimes brought tears but many times brought laughter. He loved tending to his yard, playing dominoes with his wife and friends and watching sports.

Turin entered into eternal rest and peace with our Lord and Savior on October 20th, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his wife Sara of 52 years, 5 children Johnny, George, Jose, Angelica and Steven and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and brother Angel Luis.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am at Vida de Fe (Life of Faith Church), 1115 S. Main Rd. Vineland, NJ. A service in honor and celebration of his life will begin at 11:00 am at the Church. Interment will be private.

Psalm 23:4 - "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
