Victor Manuel Martinez, lovingly known by family and friends as a peaceful, hardworking, and devoted family man, entered eternal rest surrounded by the love of those he cherished deeply.

Born on April 12, 1958, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Victor spent his childhood there until the age of 14, when he moved to the United States in 1972 in search of better opportunities. At a young age, he began working in agriculture to help support his family back home in Puerto Rico, demonstrating the selflessness, responsibility, and strong work ethic that would define his entire life.

In 1982, Victor made Vineland, New Jersey, his home, where he soon met the love of his life, Maria Gonzalez-Martinez. Together they shared 43 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion until the Lord called him home. Maria was a single mother of five precious children when Victor lovingly stepped into their lives and embraced them as his own. Though he had no biological children, Victor was their father in every way that truly mattered. He loved them deeply and raised them with care, guidance, and unconditional love.

Victor was a gifted left-handed man with many talents. A self-taught mechanic, he became especially known for his skill and passion for working on Volkswagen Beetles. He also had a deep love for gardening and landscaping, taking great pride in creating beauty through his hard work and creativity.

Music brought Victor immense joy. A self-taught musician, he played the guitar, accordion, and harmonica, and especially treasured gathering with his brothers to play music during family celebrations. Those moments filled his heart with happiness and created memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Victor enjoyed many things in life — watching wrestling, lifting weights, playing dominos, conversing with family and friends, and spending time at Atco Raceway. Above all, he loved taking his sweetheart, Maria, and the family on adventures, whether it was day trips to the park, zoo, casinos, New York, and beyond. He lived life fully and joyfully, always eager to make memories with the people he loved most.

Victor often traveled back to his beloved homeland of Puerto Rico, where he spent treasured time with family throughout the island. He was deeply family-oriented and found his greatest happiness surrounded by loved ones. Though he was laid-back, carefree, and peaceful by nature, Victor was also an incredibly responsible and dependable man who could always be counted on.

Victor dedicated 40 years of faithful employment to Seper’s Nursery in Newfield, New Jersey, before recently retiring due to medical reasons. His dedication and hardworking spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Victor leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria Martinez; his loving children: John Torres and wife, Mayra Torres; Sonia Torres; Carmen Torres; Ruben Torres; and Veronica Gonzalez. He also leaves behind his most adored and cherished grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Rose Marie Torres and Ruben Torres Jr. (mother, Rosa Mattei); John Jr., Steven, and Kayla Torres (mother, Reyna Irizarry); Amaryllis and Ariana Rodriguez (father, Alfredo Rodriguez); Christian Ayala (mother, Mayra Torres); and GianniLuis Gordillo (father, Luis Gordillo). He also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren.

Victor is also survived by his brothers, Angel Luis Martinez, Sixto “Papo” Martinez, and Leocadio Martinez; his sister, Maria Teresa Martinez; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Victor was predeceased by his parents, Luis and Marianna Concepcion-Martinez, and his brother, Jose Antonio Martinez.

Victor Manuel Martinez will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Though his earthly journey has ended, his love, laughter, music, wisdom, and beautiful memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5-7pm at Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland NJ 08360. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm. Interment will be private.

En Amorosa Memoria de Victor Manuel Martinez

Victor Manuel Martinez, conocido y amado por su familia y amistades como un hombre tranquilo, trabajador y dedicado a su familia, partió al descanso eterno rodeado del amor de todos los que tanto lo querían.

Nació el 12 de Abril de 1958 en San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, donde vivió su niñez hasta la edad de 14 años. En 1972 se mudó a los Estados Unidos en busca de mejores oportunidades. Desde muy joven comenzó a trabajar en la agricultura para ayudar y apoyar a su familia en Puerto Rico, demostrando el sacrificio, la responsabilidad y la ética de trabajo que lo caracterizaron durante toda su vida.

En 1982, Victor hizo de Vineland, Nueva Jersey, su hogar, donde conoció al amor de su vida, Maria Gonzalez-Martinez. Juntos compartieron 43 hermosos años llenos de amor, risas, aventuras y una unión inquebrantable hasta que el Señor lo llamó a su presencia. Cuando Victor llegó a la vida de Maria, ella era madre soltera de cinco preciosos hijos, y él los recibió y amó como si fueran suyos. Aunque no tuvo hijos biológicos, Victor fue padre en todo el sentido de la palabra. Los amó profundamente y los crió con dedicación, orientación y amor incondicional.

Victor era un hombre zurdo y muy talentoso. Fue un mecánico autodidacta, especialmente reconocido por su pasión y habilidad trabajando en los Volkswagen Beetles. También tenía un gran amor por la jardinería y el paisajismo, y sentía un inmenso orgullo por cada espacio que embellecía con sus propias manos y creatividad.

La música era una de sus grandes pasiones. Aprendió por sí solo a tocar guitarra, acordeón y armónica. Disfrutaba enormemente reunirse con sus hermanos para tocar música durante las actividades familiares. Esos momentos llenaban su corazón de alegría y dejaron recuerdos que vivirán para siempre en el corazón de quienes lo amaron.

Victor disfrutaba de muchas cosas en la vida: ver lucha libre, levantar pesas, jugar dominó, conversar con familiares y amistades, y pasar tiempo en Atco Raceway. Pero sobre todo, amaba llevar a su querida Maria y a toda la familia a paseos y aventuras — al parque, al zoológico, a casinos, a Nueva York y muchos otros lugares. Victor disfrutaba la vida al máximo y siempre buscaba crear recuerdos inolvidables junto a las personas que más amaba.

Victor viajaba frecuentemente a su querida isla de Puerto Rico, donde compartía momentos especiales con su familia alrededor de toda la isla. Era un hombre sumamente familiar y encontraba su mayor felicidad rodeado de sus seres queridos. Aunque era relajado, humilde y pacífico por naturaleza, también era un hombre muy responsable y siempre dispuesto para los demás.

Victor dedicó 40 años de fiel servicio trabajando en Seper’s Nursery en Newfield, Nueva Jersey, antes de retirarse recientemente por razones médicas. Su dedicación y espíritu trabajador dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

Victor deja atrás a su amada esposa, Maria Martinez; sus queridos hijos: John Torres y su esposa, Mayra Torres; Sonia Torres; Carmen Torres; Ruben Torres; y Veronica Gonzalez. También deja a sus más adorados y queridos nietos, a quienes amó profundamente: Rose Marie Torres y Ruben Torres Jr. (madre, Rosa Mattei); John Jr., Steven y Kayla Torres (madre, Reyna Irizarry); Amaryllis y Ariana Rodriguez (padre, Alfredo Rodriguez); Christian Ayala (madre, Mayra Torres); y GianniLuis Gordillo (padre, Luis Gordillo). Además, deja 18 bisnietos.

Victor también deja a sus hermanos Angel Luis Martinez, Sixto “Papo” Martinez; y Leocadio Martinez; a su hermana, Maria Teresa Martinez; además de muchos sobrinos, sobrinas y demás familiares que lo amaban profundamente.

Victor fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Luis y Marianna Concepcion-Martinez, y por su hermano, Jose Antonio Martinez.

Victor Manuel Martinez será profundamente extrañado, eternamente amado y jamás olvidado. Aunque su jornada terrenal ha terminado, su amor, su alegría, su música, su sabiduría y los hermosos recuerdos que dejó vivirán para siempre en el corazón de todos los que tuvieron la bendición de conocerlo.
