Virginia E. (O'Brien) Winslow, age 91 of Vineland, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Regional Medical Center, as the result of complications from a fall at her residence. She had been in declining health for a year. Virginia was born in Vineland to John and Elizabeth (Costello) O'Brien. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and Chestnut Hill College. She was a teacher of history and social studies at Vineland High School for twenty five years. Virginia was an avid bridge player and enjoyed travelling extensively, including a world cruise on the Queen Mary Ocean Liner. In mid-life, she married William Winslow and "inherited" two teenage daughters, Jeanne and Jayne, with whom she eventually forged a close and lasting bond. Virginia is predeceased by her husband, William Winslow, her daughter Jayne Winslow Tony and her brother Jack O'Brien. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Winslow Armato and her husband Ed. Her nephews; Kevin (Carolyn) and Jack (Sandy), Five great-nieces and nephews; Megan, Danny, John, Amy and Matt; and five great-great nieces; Maddy, Bess, Grace, Rose and Sophie Gaeta. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery. The viewing will take place on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm and again on Thursday for close family and friends one hour prior to the service.
